UCD, University of Tokyo Explore Algal Biofuels

A new joint project between the University of California, Davis (UCD) and the University of Tokyo in Japan is aiming to provide a better understanding of how algae can be used to produce biofuels. It has received one of four new grants, jointly funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation and the Japan Science and Technology Agency, to develop environment-friendly fuels and reduce pesticide use, UCD reported January 13.
