Ethanol produced from grain-based feedstock like corn or biomass (i.e. sugar cane) has evolved over time into a commercially proven and practiced business operation in various regions of the world. Dallas, Texas-based Celanese Corp. aims to replicate the same success by capitalizing on abundant and, in some cases cheaper, sources of fossil-based hydrocarbon feedstocks, such as coal, petroleum coke and natural gas, into fuel-grade ethanol.
